FAQ's

What is an online (virtual) classroom?:
An online classroom is a meeting area in cyberspace for all students enrolled in a particular course. Each classroom is limited to 20 students and has one facilitator/instructor. Only registered students are permitted to attend class. The facilitator/instructor provides the course syllabus, makes lecture material available, monitors the students discussions, sets deadlines for assignments and gives online exams which are graded automatically.

What makes an online classroom different from an on-campus classroom?:
The most notable difference is the lack of geographic boundaries; individuals do not have to be near a campus to participate and they can continue to participate while traveling, etc. The student has the convenience of completing course requirements at his or her own computer at any time of the day or night. But, it is more than that. The emphasis is on reading and writing and the student has the leisure to think and respond to discussion questions unlike the "live" classroom where questions and answers are spontaneous. Also, everyone must participate in the onlne discussion. The online classroom places more responsibility on the student to be active and to respond to assignments. Students are not permitted to just listen and watch other students, as they sometimes do, in an on-campus setting.

Have the students who have taken online courses liked it?:
Many students who have taken an online course have liked it very much. The online classroom is extremely convenient for people with busy lives and conflicting responsibilities and it has been tailored to make the most of today's technology. Online education is a unique experience.

Do I have to attend class at a special time?:
No, as long as your assignments are uploaded and sent to your facilitator/instructor on time, you may work any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
