Introduction
This course examines the epidemiology and etiopathology of equine gastric ulcers, including appropriate selection of treatment and currently available pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment of the disease.

Dr. Howard is a 1973 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Howard currently has a practice (Animal Clinic at the Crossing and West Loop Animal Hospital) with three other veterinarians in Longview, Texas, which focuses primarily upon equine and small animals with an emphasis on equine reproduction and dentistry. Dr. Howard is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, American Veterinary Medical Association and East Texas Veterinary Medical Association of which he was president in 1979. He has continued his Texas A&M ties through research programs -- including most recently colic and rhodococcus studies in 1997 and 1998.
